THE DRUM AND THE SEED:  A HAITIAN ODYSSEY

An evening of music, storytelling, art, and magic

Drought is killing the farming community of Lespwa.  Ti Zwazo, a child, has set out for the house of Bawon Samdi, who keeps the magic seeds that can reverse it.  Along the way she meets three spirits who tell her why the Earth is dying, and how people can save it.  Bawon Samdi and Grann Brijit, Lord and Lady of the Underworld, send her home with the ultimate magic.

Story by Lois Wilcken, with inspiration from the folktales of Haiti and lwa of Vodou
