A message from Véronëque describing her project: "In November 2019, we offered KONSOLE. One year later, November 2020, we offered NA VIV / We’ll Live. In both dance films, it is clear that the image of a black woman, with a full spectrum of emotion, power, vulnerability, and direction is front and center. This, in many ways, complicates and sits contrary to the various tropes of black women that are often perpetuated in digital media. In this new work, ASE / enough?, we explore exactly this - how through the basic human experience of grief we can come to understand that black women can, in fact, exist as a people first, before, after, and all the while being bent to meet the demands of patriarchy, racisms, classism, pigmentocracy, and sexualization to say the least. We hope that this offering serves as a call to action for its viewers, such that we can move from just a reflection of what is shown to something that manifests more tangibly in ourselves and in our community." "Kay La Mande Wouze" A Short Choreographic film that explores where we can draw from to strengthen our efforts to battle all of the discriminations and social injustices around us. When we, as the Diaspora look at our motherland, we look at this ongoing narrative of civil unrest, injustice, and in-equality and then we take a look at our lives here in the U.S.  and realize we are battling some of those same issues; What are we to do?  How can we change the narrative for ourselves personally, and for our people?  I am creating a choreographic film to explore through movement where we can draw from to cleanse and strengthen to prepare for these encounters and for battling these discriminations.

"This one questions the feminine condition, feminity and its attributes. My reflexion feeds on symbols, experiences, clichés and prejudices, proverbs and sayings, representations, metaphors that I draw from the christian judeo culture and from the universe of haitian vodou. Witch are called Freda, Manman Zanfan, Fanm pa Lavyèj, Eve or Fanm se Poto mitan, this series is a gallery of contemporary feminine spirits. "Haiti, look inside" (Ayiti, gade andedan), is a talk/ musical presentation aimed at revisiting the many woes facing Haiti's already vulnerable population and taking a look at what they, as a people, need at the most basic and deepest levels. I will call into question our past and present responses to the many hardships facing the population and make suggestions on how each individual can play a role in changing the narrative. I believe that by developing a knowledge of self, nurturing a connection to the planet, and embracing non-traditional ideas, Haiti can find a better way for all its children to not only survive, but thrive.
