About HAUP (Haitian-Americans United for Progress): HAUP is a not-for-profit community based organization that helps low-income families and individuals to live healthy and productive lives. HAUP was initially founded in 1975 to promote the welfare of Haitian refugees and immigrants. Since its founding in 1975 it has broadened its scope and reach to meet the needs of all its constituents regardless of nationality, ethnic origin or background. “We were elated to partner with Ford Model Monica Watkins, founder of Art in Motion, who has partnered with us in bringing much needed support to schoolchildren in Haiti through the Love and Serve program, our youth development initiative.” Elsie Accilien, Executive Director of HAUP www.haupinc.org
About Art In Motion: A movement created by model/artist/philanthropist, Monica Watkins, to discover and give a voice to incredible young talents from the inner-city who have a burning desire to be a part of something greater than themselves. Our mission is to seek out and nurture young, disadvantaged artists to grow, thrive, and effect positive change in the world through visual and performance art. Collectively, Monica and her kids have raised thousands of dollars for Housing Works, GEMS and Stoked Mentoring in NYC, The Diakonos Orphanage and Art Day Celebration in Haiti, and Doctors Without Borders for the Japan Disaster Relief Effort. www.artinmotionshow.com
