On Friday, May 17th, Haiti Cultural Exchange and our Broklyn community celebrated Haitian Flag Day at Brooklyn Commons in Flatbush. The event was hosted in collaboration with Little Haiti BK and Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte.
The event featured dance performance and musical performance by Prince Guetjens & Tayno. Delicious Haitian food was provided by Kombit Restaurant. A select group of Haitian vendors joined us; Vendors included: Cantave de Saint Marc brought delicious Haiti-grown coffee, Les Chocolateries Askanya brought the rich chololat delights, and Kapha Group brought us vibrant Haiti-made clothing and homewares.
Living true to our Haitian roots, Prince offered a special tribute to our Haitian motherland and to motherhood: “Today’s not just celebrating the flag. Today we stand with mothers and children, and the fight for healthcare. It is their right to choose what happens with their bodies.”
